Good day.

My wife and I lost everything a few years back, including our joint checking account with B of A. The account was closed by them with an unpaid overdraft line of credit. Due to several reasons, we are still incapable of repaying the amount involved.

My question: Is this type of situation reported to ChexSystems? If so, would EWS be involved as well?

Thank you so much for the help.

If you do not pay up an overdraft, it will, unfortunately be reported to Chex Systems! You can still get a bank account with certain banks but you will be put on a probationary status! This means you will not have the privledges of a preferred account! Credit unions may be a good option for you as they are able to relax the rules! I wish you all the best!

Yes it would have been charged off and reported to chexsystems. There is a good chance that it is also reported to EWS.
Early Warning Services is a limited liability company owned by Bank of America, BB&T Corporation, JPMorgan Chase, Wachovia, and Wells Fargo.

It would be best to get a free copy of each report to see exactly what is reported. There are banks and credit unions that do not use chexsystems and others that make exceptions and offer second chance accounts. Options depend on what state you live in.
