First of all, I'm glad to see you, MCA, on another site that will help people who have had banking issues, especially with ChexSystems. I had wondered what had happened to the previous site and you, of course. In the past couple of months, a lot has happened regarding Netbank. Instead of being taken over by Everbank as initially stated, the regulators actually closed Netbank but gave the deposit accounts , the IRA and CDs to ING Direct. During this transition period, things are almost normal except for international transactions. However, effective 23 Nov, all Netbank ATM and Debit cards will cease to function. Then on 7 December, all Netbank accounts will formally transition to ING accounts. For those having checking accounts, any funds on deposit at that time will be transferred to an ING savings account, NOT its Electric Orange checking account. Any Netbank checks written prior to 8 Dec will be honored until Mar of 2008. Any checks clearing before 8 Dec will clear through the Netbank account and any clearing after that will be deducted from the new ING savings account. I believe, as noted on your previous site, Electric Orange still requires a certain credit rating to maitain the account since it comes with an overdraft feature. This will force many to find another bank as the ING savings accounts do not have an ATM nor debit card feature.

I think I remember you stated this from the old site I was at.... Good to see you again :) The only good thing I can tell you is that I too have an ING account and my credit is crap.I mean really crap ..my husband and I are currently in bankruptcy. I can tell you that we have a checking with ING as well and they never closed it as some had feared. We have our ING debit cards etc ..the only thing that happened to us is that they cancelled out over draft protection once they decided to run our credit . Other than that , all is still good with that account. I am almost positive that once you ahev teh ING savings that you will be able to open a checking in no time. But please let me know and keep me posted if you don't mind.

Couple of months ago I opened a Peoples account in Paris, TX, just in case. My wife is transferring her direct deposit of her pay into that account. Although, in our case, it isn't overly critical as we have other bank accounts: a local credit union, Armed Forces Bank, an out of state credit union located in FL and WAMU. I opened that WAMU account a year ago or so ago when I still had an entry in Chex. Now my Chex entry is no longer a factor. I paid off what I owed another credit union (my business account after I deposited some checks that bounced) late last year and when I didn't see the entry changed to reflect that it was paid, I wrote Chex to verify the payoff. But because the credit union did not respond IAW FCRA, Chex dropped the entry and I am now clear (the entry could have stayed on for another 14 or 15 months). As I receive info from ING regarding the Netbank account, I'll post it here, although I think we have heard the last from them regarding the transfer.

yes and the best thing about People's bank is that ANYONE can get an account with them.

Peoples Cash Solutions

peoplescashsolutions.com

Email:

Thank you for your interest in Peoples Cash Solutions!!

We may or may not use one or all the ones you listed, BUT they have no effect on whether or not you are approved. You could be in one or in all of them & have bad credit & still be approved.

We require a minimum of a $25.00 account opening deposit (this is not a fee & all is deposited into your account), a clear copy of an unexpired government issued ID (drivers license) and a clear copy of your completed application. If you are considering applying - I would recommend mailing in ALL at once to the address provided for Peoples Bank.

I hope this helps!!

Thanks,
PCS

Special Note:

It has been reported that they use chexsystems but no one is turned down and you can get an account here regardless of where you live

Have you ever been denied a checking account before because of past problems with ChexSystems or telecheck? The Peoples Cash Solutions program is the answer for you, and it's FREE! We want to give you a chance to establish a banking relationship as the first step toward improving your credit record and to allow you to begin building and accumulating assets.

As of today, 23 Nov, Netbank debit cards are no longer valid. Netbank checking account holders now have two weeks (until 7 Dec) to write any checks against their accounts. All checks written after that will not honored, although checks written before the deadline will be paid through 8 Mar 08.

I was notified by ING that a checking account would not be offered to me because I am not eligible for overdraft protection. I have suffered identity theft on four different occasions and have discovered that I am not only in Chexsystems but also telecheck and have the worst credit I have ever seen.
I have had an account with Netbank for nearly 5yrs with no problems and it fries my butt that ING will not grandfather my account...we should have some rights!

fly that really stinks....UNBELIEVABLE !!! You should definitely have some rights... I know most times when banks take over other banks that generally there are not many problems but I know at times there are situations where an old bank didn't use chexsystems and the new one does so you are out of a checking account. Can I ask where you live?

mca,
I live in Oregon. I am so frustrated with this situation and I can only imagine what other folks dealing with this are going through...I can't be the only person that will not be allowed to have a checking account through ING.
To make matters worse, I don't know how I'm going to get to my money because my debit card doesn't work and I don't use checks.

Have you tried Oregon Community CU? They are in the Portland and Eugene areas . . . . They will run your credit, and if you have bad credit they won't give you a free checking account, but you can still get a checking account, you just have to pay an $8 service fee a month. But other then that and no overdraft protection it's a normal account.

 I am the latest to be told by Ing Direct that I don't meet their criteria for an account of any type. I won't have a savings account or electric orange account - period. They aren't the best bunch if you ask me.

I guess saying that this bank is picky about credit is an understatement !! There have been a few people that have told me that they were able to transfer accounts and they are eligible for the checking as well.

The only good thing that still remains about ING is that thye still do not use chexsystems or telecheck, it is based strictly on credit. I just hope all of you are able to find accounts now
