How long does a bank levy last? Let's say you get sued for $9500 and the creditor wins. If they place a bank levy on your account and you only have two dollars then what happens? Do they just keep it on there in hopes that you add more money to it? Since, my wages cant be garnished in Texas and they only have the Bank account levy , then what is the process and how long does it last? Do they freeze it one time and then come back to freeze it again or what happens?>

I'm in VA and when my account was levied for a judgment won by another bank the levy stayed until it was paid. It was only $1,300 and one paycheck got Direct Deposited and covered what was left after they had already held some. The bank told me that until I deposited enough money to cover the amount of the levy or the bank that won the judgement sent a release of levy letter that the freeze would continue.
$9,500 is a lot. Not sure about TX law.
