Ok well a few weeks back I overdrew my HSBC checking account for I think around $4.00 or something like that and this was between two seperate transactions so when it was all said and done I was at -$78. I had already used my other checking account to pay off my other bills for the week and didn't have the cash. Next thing you know my account is up to -$240 something since I didn't pay it off right away. Now HSBC has closed my account. What am I supposed to do? I got things in the mail saying I owe this money and I don't have it. I've been having lots of problems financially lately and don't have the money to pay this. I don't even know where I'm supposed to send the payments too. I got a call tonight while at work and the number that showed up was 716 for the caller ID. I was at work and couldn't answer and when I listened to the voicemail the guy said he was from HSBC but I couldn't understand the rest of it. So yeah the account's been closed for about a week now. What will happen next? I want to pay this off and get done with it. I know it's my own fault for overdrafting in the first place and not balancing my account. So what is the next thing HSBC is going to do? Since my account's closed does that mean it's been charged off to a collector somewhere? Thank you in advance for your help and advice.

IMO you need to contact the bank to find out how can you pay off the overdraft charges. The bank can also send the account to collection.

Banks have their own system of reporting called Chexsyems and overdraft charges on your Chexsystem report can prevent you from getting account with another bank.
