I have an open checking account with Mazuma credit union but I recently was added to chexsystems due to NSF-I have not written a check with them yet(Opened account in 107), If I write a check "good one" of course, Will chexsystems find out and tell Mazuma or what?

I was put on chex the end of Dec. I'm pretty sure they did but I opened the acc in Oct, I was in good shape then.

Yeah, I know that's why I'm not in too big of hurry to pay it off (If they would remove me yeah), I just did'nt understand the method of when you write a check.

I just assumed that if u write a check, The chexsystem would automatically send the info to the bank and they would close the account.

If you want you can attempt to pay for deletion but make sure you get it in writing

Banks have told so many customers that they would be removed that never were. Some banks are just sooooo DUMB and I do mean DUMB and have no clue how chexsystems even works.

I have had banks email me saying that if I paid then I should have been removed. I have had some saying, if you paid then go back to the bank that reported you because you should have been removed.

I would go as far as to play along and email them back asking questions. Unfortunately they utilize a system and they have no idea how it actually works. Some of the banks and credit unions out there think if a customer PAYS THEM a debt owed and they report it to chexsystems that chex will remove them automatically. They do NOT realize that this is NOT the case and that all chex will do is report the debt is paid but the person remains on chex.

the only way chex will remove a person from chexsystems is if the reporting bank tells them TO REMOVE and I don't think chexsystems is in a hurry to help them understand any of this

It is an agency that banks report you to if there is abuse on your account. In your case too many NSF fees. Once reported to chex it makes it virtually to open another checking account. You remain on chex for 5 years. If you do open a new account chances are that it will be closed soon after , as banks do sweeps to see if they have opened any accounts for people on chex.If you tell us what state you are in , our member MCA has compiled a list of nin chex banks, which may be able to help you.

This is the first time I have ever heard of this place. My son has a checking account and he is always paying NSF fees. But his account has never been closed at his bank. What would you have to do to make the bank close your account and for another bank to not allow you to open another. Is it because the people do not pay the NSF fees or what?

A bank is a business like any other, and they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone they choose. BUT, they have more restrictions on them of who they can refuse service to. So, if they run a ChexSystems report and find that you have had banking problems in the past, you would be seen as a risk to them, even if you've paid off this past mistake. To the bank, you let that old account be misused, therefore, you might do it again to them. That's when they can exercise their right to refuse service. I hope that helps.
