What do I do???

I’m not sure what to do with this situation:

I have had a negative balance in my checking acct. because of PDLs. My bank closed my acct. today at my request and returned everything that was there to bring me to a positive balance of 1.99. They waived all the NSF charges (basically just to get rid of me, I think). They will not open a new acct. for me, I need to find another bank.

I have approx. 4 checks that are outstanding now that have already been presented once and returned because of the damn PDLs. When those businesses attempt to present the check again, obviously they will be told that the acct. is closed. I want to pay these businesses ASAP because I know it is my obligation. What should I do?

Also, I get paid again on 1/29/08. I work for the government, and as most of you know, things don’t always happen quickly. I need to get my direct deposit switched over ASAP in order to get my money from my next check. I’m afraid that if my old bank gets the check deposited, they will want to keep the money (at least some of it) since they wrote off the NSF fees. However, I need money for rent and daycare, not to mention food and gas. I need to get a bank acct. opened ASAP in hopes that there is still time to get the direct deposit switched to the new acct. I applied online w/Bank of America today about 4 hours ago but haven’t heard back yet. I’m afraid that I am on ChexSystems because of my past NSF fees at my previous bank.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to get this turned around and get my life back on track. Ug!!!

I would try to contact whoever you have checks out with and see if they will hold them for you so you can go pay in cash.

But being that they were already presented once, not sure if they can do anything.

If you closed your account, then I do not think your paycheck would be deposited, just returned to your employer. Yet, that will take a few days.

I get paid once a month and had to have my letter in by last week to stop my direct deposit for this month.

Someone will come along shortly and have more advice for you!
