I opened a new checking account early September, my previous checking account was closed about 2 weeks ago for overdrafts due to pay day loans.

I had been using my new account with checks and debit card for 2 months now, no issues. Even after 2 months do I still need to worry that my new account will be closed.

Thanks

if your new bank uses CHEXSYSTEMS they might if your old bank reports your negative account.if your new bank doesn't use CHEXSYSTEMS then you should be okay.

thing is if you are trying to resolve the negative former account they might not report it at all.if not they might wait till they give it to collections.that could be 3-6 months.

So if I am understanding correctly, if I opened a new account in September, my old account is closed in early November, my new account can be closed some 6 months later. They keep checking chexsystems. I know they ran it through Chexsystems when I opened it, or at least they said they did, but I really didn't think they would check it monthly for 6 months afterwards.

that depends on more than one factor.your new bank might not look at telechex more than once.they might look at it twice in six months then nothing.i wouldn't worry about it.it sounds like your at a small bank.they might not look at telechex more than once.

exactly,i think they checked when you opened the account.they probably won't check it again.if they do they probably will call you about it before they do anything.so again i wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not trying to scare you, but here's what happened to me, just to share the information. Keep in mind that I was with a major bank chain, not a small local bank.
My ex had run up quite a few overdrafts on our joint checking account. When we got divorced, I went to the bank to have my name removed from the account. I had to pay $185 in overdraft fees before they would remove my name. I went down the street to open an account in my own name and had no problem. Three months later I went to get a money order to buy a used car from a friend. When I got to the bank they told me my account had been closed because of the Chexsystems report. I asked where the money was that was in my account? They told me that they drew up a check in the amount of the balance and I should receive it in the mail within 10 days!!! I did finally get the check in the mail but it was three years before any of the banks would allow me to open up another account. Just beware!

Some banks do " sweeps" or periodic checks on accounts. Some banks like WAMU, Wells Fargo, and Wachovia have been known to open accounts and close them due to finding a chexsystems report and deeming the person to be a " risk" even years later.

As far as Guaranty bank, I have never known them to do " sweeps" on accounts. In fact, they are known to open accounts for those reported to chexsystems and to be lenient. I would however make sure to NOT order checks from Deluxe or any affiliated company
