Do they still use EWS?

yes they are using EWS

They do use EWS and some branches are still using chexsystems but this shoudl change soon

This is so true MCA, a few months ago I applied online and I had to option to chose what local branch I wanted, and I was approved a few days later. They do not look at chex systems. Now I have two local banks Suntrus and Regions Bank.

I just got a checking and savings at Regions and I am in Chexsystems

That is great news, again as long as you are not reported to EWS, Regions bank is a very good option for many since they no longer use chexsystems. It is best to apply in person since some have indicated to me that they may run chexsystems if you apply online. Apparently they have not updated their system yet

Just today I open my account with Regions Bank and only took me 15 minutes. And yes I'm on checksystem

It seems that some branches will tell you that they are still using chexsystems but they are not. They do however use EWS. Unfortunately they check with EWS AFTER the account is opened. If you are reported to EWS, thwey will close the account so be sure not to set up direct deposit until about a week or so after it has been opened.
