We had TAB as a good bank for several years but they are now using chexsystems and will close accounts that have been reported to chexsystems

Hi mca! Well I have had my accounts with TAB Bank for a couple of months now and they are GREAT! The checking and savings are both interest bearing and I feel human again with bank accounts!

Just so everyone knows...if you plan on getting the Savings account BE CAREFUL with withdrawals! On TAB Bank's fees charts it does state that you are allowed only 6 withdrawals per month and if you withdraw after 6 you will be charged $20. Well I didn't see that and it has been a LONG time since I have had a Savings account.

The first month I was with TAB Bank's Saving account I withdrew 14 times!!!! My mentality was I would just put all my money in Savings and if I needed money I would just transfer money from Savings to Checking via their Online Banking and then I could collect interest!

Well, obviously the bank would lose money if everyone did that. Fortunately for me the people at TAB Bank are REALLY REALLY nice and after that month they simply sent me a letter telling me not to do that again or else I would be charged $20 a transaction. If this was ANY OTHER bank I guarantee you I would be about $200 in the whole for withdrawing more than the allowed amount. But not with this bank.

If you want a good bank and are on chexsystems...use this bank. Even if I was off chexsystems I would still use them.

Some of their customer service agents are a little snooty, but that's any company. This bank is great!

The customer service is amazing!!! I was on checksystems as well and was able to open an account with direct deposit over 8 months ago.

For being a smaller bank they definitely have Oustanding customer service. I love that I have access to online bill pay. There are a few downfalls that I have come to accept and deal with. There are not any physical branches to visit. All of your deposits need to be done via mail. They do have a way to stop at Flying J and purchase a cash card and call the 800 number to deposit the funds from the cash card.

I have not overdrawn my account. But it has been nice when I have needed to call and talk with customer service I have talked to the same people a couple of times. They recall speaking with me and have even asked how my last scenario turned out.

Wish I would have found them years ago....

Get an account here. You will be pleasantly surprised.

TAB is still a great bank but there have been some complaints about them lately. They have been taking up to 30 days to open new accounts and sometimes they will lose the information and you will have to apply more than once.

There is also rumor that they are going to be charging a monthly fee in the future.

Hey every one. Well I have had my TAB bank account for 10 months now...and I am now closing the account. Let me tell you my story.

Like you saw in previous posts, I had the worst chexsystems ever and TAB Bank was there. However I have had it with their customer service! On my debit card the 3 digit security code on the back of the card rubbed off and I needed a new one. They said they would send that to me. This first call took place February 2009.

March 2009...still no card. They verified my address (the same address they sent the original card to) and said they would reissue another one. Fast-forward 5 months later....still no card. I called them this morning because my direct deposit was taking longer than normal to hit my account and I wanted to find out it if it was my company's payroll or TAB Bank (it was my company) but I asked about the card and they said they were resending one to my work address (obviously there were issues with TAB and my home address...but don't know why).

Imagine my surprise when I tried to use my debit card tonight at Publix and it was declined due to "Not authorized." Apparently the customer service representative did not reissue a card....but reported my only working card as lost. After yelling at a supervisor, they are one-nighting me a new card to my work address which will be there on Tuesday.

All-in-all I had it with them. Granted, they were there for me when no one else was but now I have NO MONEY (thank GOD rent is not due this week).

I started an account at ING Direct. When you call them, they actually seem like they have some intelligence.

If ING denies you...go to TAB...but if you require a new card then good luck!!!!

TAB changed their minds and started using Chex on August 2009.
