Another way to tell that bankers have no clue what they do

I am so sick and tired of hearing people tell me the reason they use chexsystems is because the patriot act tells them they HAVE to use chexsystems, the only thing the patriot act tells them they have to do is verify identity. Not that they have to use Chexsystems.

There's nothing in the Patriot Act that says anything about ChexSystems. You're right...it says that banks HAVE to properly identify people before opening an account or doing a loan. Or doing any kind of transaction. I used to hate it when little old ladies would get mad at me for asking for their ID when they would come into the bank to take out money. "I come in here all the time. Don't you know me by now?" I would cover my name tag and ask them to tell me MY name. I see hundreds of customers a month, and there's only one of me, so if they can't remember MY name, how the heck am i supposed to remember a little old lady that comes in once a month to take out her social security....like all of the other little old ladies that come in on the third of every month. Sorry...I went off on a tangent. :o

I am in banking and we used to use chexsystems until a few months ago. Everytime I called them to check on a denial, I was speaking to someone in India and was having a heck of a time understanding them. We did away w/ Chexsystems and use another system that seems to allow more people to open accounts.

Patriot Act comment is bull. It is the bank's decision to use or not use Chexsystems.
