WAMU not only uses chexsystems and will deny accounts but they will sometimes open accounts only to freeze and close them at a later time. Loss prevention will do random checks and close accounts.

I don't know how their regular banking system works, but don't like working with them on my mortgage. They get very rude when we have had to talk to them! Wish I could refiance and go some place else, but have already tried and can't get it done yet.

I don't like their credit card collections department either. They were calling daily about my past due balance, even though I kept telling them over and over again what our situation is (and reminding them that I did send in a hardship letter). I finally asked to speak with a supervisor and asked her if they really thought that our situation was going to change in only one day, and if they really needed to keep calling every single day. She suggested that I send in a letter asking to only be contacted by mail, instead of by telephone. As soon as they received that letter, they turned the account over to a collection agency--even though it was their supervisor that suggested I send it!

I personally think WaMu stinks all the way around!!! I have talked to too many people who have had problems with them from their banking practices to their loan practices. They are also one that has had some problems with this stuff that happened with mortgages. Don't like them and wish my loan was not through them but can't do anything right now

Washington Mutual employees and managers are rude and incompetent. Don't bank with this horrible bank! they let my child, a minor
that was being conned, cash a 3000.00 personal, out of state check against his savings account and a week later debited it from my account when the check came back account closed.
Take your money from this awful bank and run!

Wamu does suck I have had identity theft problems and I just left them. I bank at BOFA now and have no problems. It happened to me twice and I just had enough. They gave me a new account and the same thing happened. A bunch of charges I did not make. I am not an online shopper. The debit cards they have are not safe. They also charge you two bucks when you make pin purchases. :twisted:

WHAT an outrageous excuse for a financial instituation. They must definetly rob the poor and give to the rich! In my opionion they failed or are failing with their mortgage business and trying to make up for their loses by screwing people with their checking accounts...we cover you for any unsufficent funds but we charge you way over the limit...they tell you that you have to have funds in your account in bill pay but send it out anyway and then they charge you 36.00 for being short in your account.. I would rather be denied use of the debit card then be charged 324.00 dollars.....when the monies were in my savings account - I have tried over and over to get proctection via my savings account but I have been sent round and round and nothing ever done - the same with their customer service - you get the scripted lines....in these troubling times it is us the common/litte people who get screwed over and over. I cannot wait to finally close my account with them and shred my extra checks. What a joke for a bank? Any good ideas for a new bank???

I am using a mortgage modification company and they have had a hard time getting somone from WaMu to contact them back. Right now the person handling my account has sent numerous letters, emails and made numerous phone calls and no one has responded to them. When they heard we were going thru a modification company, they then sent me some paperwork but they really wanted to jack my payment up and then put me on another 2 year fixed rate and then change to an adjustable!!! I sent the paperwork to my modifier and she has been trying, notice I said trying, to get up with WaMu and see what can be done. She discovered there were some not so kosher things that were done!
