If there was money there they could take the money yes but since there is only 4.00 there, they can't take what isn't there. If the accuont remains inactive, they may close it at a later time so you may want to go ahead and close it out yourself at some point.

I am going thru the same EXACT thing. I am filing chapter 7 which should be discharged here shortly and had an acct with WFB as well as one of their credit cards with over 10K that was in the bankruptcy petition. My lawyer warned me to close that WFB acct because there could be some fine fine print that states they have a right to take funds from your checking to offset monies owed to other depts. Now the funny part, I switched to WAMU right b4 their fiasco. Now that they have been bought out by Chase, I am in the same boat again, but thankfully, legally, they can not touch my money because it will be discharged. I will eventually switch over after discharge to Bank of the West, but I am getting tired of all of this!
