How are accounts discharged in bankruptcy reported on credit reports? Are they removed after the discharge?

Hi Austin!

Unfortunately, the answer is yes. A bankruptcy filing will be written on your credit report for 7 to 10 years.

You will get information about the debts discharged in bankruptcy appearing on your credit report also.

I would like to add 2 points here. Discharged debts are reported on your credit reports in 2 ways.

Debts discharged in bankruptcy
Balance owed on debts is 0

Check your credit reports 3 months after your debts have been discharged. That would give creditors enough time to update your credit report.
