For a chapter 7 its normally about 6 months. First you file, then you have your creditor meeting, which is usually about 6-8 weeks after filing (depending on current case loads), then your creditors have about 90 days to dispute anything, once that time is up, you then receive your discharge.
For Chapter 13 that can take somewhere between 36-60 months just to finish your payment plan, then the trustee does a final audit to make sure all is correct, then your discharge comes, so for 13 it could take close to 6 years depending on your own situation...

Need help on my driction,I own my own biss.New constshion,4 years new everything was booming,and going well,utill the houseing market took a turn for the worst.We have been trying to hang-on,my wife was doing the books,untell it got to the point that she had to seek employment elsewhere,she is verry good ot her job but we canot make-it on her wages alone,and at this point the biss. is no-longer seriving,with the cost of all the goverment requrments,I think I should close the doors,But if I,am able to find work in my trade it still would not be enuff to cover what has slowly built-up.Should I file bankruptcy or dept cosulation,witch would hurt the least? Are thear any goverment programs for my sitsuation? Please HELP Plumber on A bummer.
