Yesterday, I met a bankruptcy attorney. He said that credit score is the last thing I should be thinking of right now since there are lots of unpaid debts. But, credit score is important. Will my credit score go up after filing bankruptcy?

Your credit score has already taken a dip since you’re delinquent on your payments. Filing bankruptcy will seriously hurt your score. But, with time it’ll improve. Your credit score won’t improve immediately after filing bankruptcy.

However, you can take several steps to improve your credit score like reviewing credit report at regular intervals, pay the bills on time, pay the full balance on your credit card at each billing cycle, knowing the limits on your credit cards, and so on.
