Car has been sitting in front of house for weeks. Wondering if its in hiding here. How to check it??

Just want to clarify -- Are you saying this is just some random car that appeared one day and never left?

There really is no master "repossession list" that you can go to. Creditors are not required to tell authorities that they intend to repo a car.

If you really wanted to spend some time on this, you could probably call your Secretary of State and ask them who the lienholder is on that car. Then you could call the lienholder -- but because you're not on the account I'm not sure if they could even release whether or not they're looking for it.

In reality, you should probably just call your police department and report it as an abandoned vehicle. They will run the plates to see if it's stolen; if not, they will keep writing tickets until they eventually impound it. Once they impound it, then they would send notice to the lienholder - and then the lienholder can come get it if they want to.
