Will my debt affect my husband's credit?

Hi. My husband just recently bought a house and I wasn't part of the loan but he put me on the title afterwards. He got excellent credit and he doesn't know anything about my debts and I don't want him to know at all. I got into credit card debts around 30k in total and I recently got less hours in my job and I can no longer pay anything anymore. I stopped paying all my creditors at the same time. Now I'm leaning towards debt settlement on my own but I'm not sure if its the right decision. What should I do? I don't want my husband to know and I don't want him to be a part of my stupidity.

You need to tell him about these debts. Now that you are married things are going to end up in both of your names and as soaplady said, he's not going to be happy when he comes home one day to find out a lein is on the house because you didn't tell him about your past due bills. The smart thing to do (some will disagree with me) is to just let your credit tank as you have your husband and pay these things off in the easiest way possible for you. It makes things a lot easier when you are not worried about your own credit when dealing with tons of debt.

I would highly suggest you talk to your husband. If you end up being sued, they would place a lein on your home since you are on the title. That would probably piss him off. You need to get on a budget and get those accounts paid off or settled.

I would suggest you to disclose this thing to your husband. If your husband comes to know from other source, then it wouldn't be good for your marital relationship.

It's good that you've decided to settle debts on your own. This would help you avoid the settlement fees.
