what is an example of an exempt item vs non-exempt?
would they take my husbands model airplane collection or is it big ticket items? Also, if anyone can answer do they let each adult keep their car. Mine is 14 yrs old and my husbands is 9 yrs old. We are looking into both 7 and 13, but will probably be 13

As far as I know, under Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the items that are exempted includes car, clothing, household goods, furnishing, jewelery, social security, and household appliances, while non-exempted items include the expensive musical instruments, cash, stocks, bonds, a second vehicle, and a second home.
Under Chapter 13, there is no question of exemptions because you need to pay the debt in a 3 to 4 year time period.

No more major credit cards for me. You have to list your property, and none of mine ever got taken. This last one, I had a vehicle with a blue book value of $800.
