Can I file bankruptcy and get rid of debt without liquidating my assets?

Yes. You can get rid of debts without liquidating your assets. All you need to do is file Chapter 13 bankruptcy. But in that case, you have to propose a repayment plan and complete it within 3 to 5 years. In Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you're required to liquidate your assets to pay off debts.
