Since the mortgage and heloc accts. were discharged in BK7 I now have the opportunity to walk way from the house and try to buy another one. Our BK7 has been 4 yrs. now. What I'm wanting to know is it best to just walk away from the payments since we are current or possibly a short sale? And does a short sale affect my wife and I in the aspect of repaying the deficency if there would be.

A short sale would be the best option I believe. Did you acquire the mortgage jointly?
