I have quite a bit of debt which I can repay but want to opt for bankruptcy for a fresh start. Can I do it?

Why do you want to opt for bankruptcy? How much debt you have? Filing bankruptcy is considered as the LAST resort to get rid of debt trap. So, don't go for filing bankruptcy without doing proper research. I would say it's better that you approach a genuine debt relief company. They can guide you in a better way.

What types of debts do you have? Secured or unsecured? How much do you owe? Is your household income less than the state median mode? Give us these details please.

Bankruptcy should be the last resort. How much debts do you have? Did you consider settlement?

Yes, it's true that bankruptcy can give you a fresh start to your financial life if it's in a mess. But, my friend, you'll have to qualify for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 first. And, it's not the best option either. if your debts are manageable, consider consolidation or settlement and solve your debt problems.
