how often can you file chapter 7

OK, here is the situation. My dads woman is disabled now and she stopped paying her CC bills and never got the extra insurance (stupid) But she wanted me to write forgiveness letters to these CC companies. Well she gave me all of her statements (some not even opened) And her Capitol One sent her a letter telling her to respond within 30 days or they will start legal matters (she has 6 days left to respond). So I told my dad to contact a lawyer. This lady had to file chapter 7 after her hubby passed away 6 years ago. Can she still file for chapter 7 now? She only has her disability checks to live on. If it were not for my dad she would not be able to live on her own, because she does not bring in enough money to live. I want them to do the right thing, but I don't want my dad to have to pay on these bills for her because he doesn't have much either and his health isn't very good at the moment. Lord knows I can't help them out either.

Ok - you can "file" as often as you like...but you may not obtain a discharge from a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy if you have had a Chapter 7 Dishcharge in the last 8 years. You also may not receive a discharge from a Chapter 7 if you had a discharge from a Chapter 13 in the last 6 years.
Hope that helps.
No problem, glad to help! Sorry it wasn't better news.
