Bankruptcy

Does anyone know if bankruptcy "falls off" your credit report automatically or do you have to send a letter or something to the credit bureaus asking to have it taken off? It as been well over the 7-10 year time line for me and I just recently received a response on something that said they showed bankruptcy in my past credit history. I was assuming that it would not show up after the alloted time frame. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
