I read in an article from a lawyer in California who said "For the self-employed, or those with rental income there is nice out. If 51% of your income is "Business" income you can take a pass on the means test.

In fact, all of what I have been able to find has said that all income must be included in the means test calculation, especially self employment or rental income.
