Can I file bankruptcy to get rid of unpaid student loans?

You can file bankruptcy to get rid of unpaid student loans only if you pass the Brunner test.

It will be better to avoid bankruptcy at all. What is the type of your student loan? Is it federal or private?
Don't assume that the Bruner test is an easy process. There are many terms and conditions.
If you have federal student loan debt, then it can be forgiven, canceled or discharged.
If you have private student loan debts, then I will suggest you take out a consolidation loan to pay off your debts. After that try to make regular payments on your new debt.
