Couple questions on bankruptcy...
Date: Fri, 06/26/2009 - 23:19
I live in AZ...I make about 25000 a year and I have CC debt in the amount of about 30-35000...none of my debt has been paid in the past three years...I recently was served a summons for one BOA CC for 15000...I'm thinking of filing for bankruptcy, but would like a few questions answered:
1) I rent an apartment, am I legally required to notify my landlord that I have filed for bankruptcy...if so, can my landlord end my lease and evict me?
2) Am I legally required to notify my employer? Since AZ is a right to work state, can they fire me if I am required to notify them?
Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Forgot question 3) I own my car, bought it from a family member.

Q1: Not sure, good question - would be intrested in the answer.

Q2: No You do not have to notify your employer
Q3: Each state has their own exemptions. I am assuming you are filing for chapter 7. In AZ the exemption is listed this way: Motor vehicle to $1,500 ($4,000, if disabled)
So it depends on the value of the car. I would consult with one or more attorneys who can look at your entire situation in detail and give you advice on the best way to proceed.
