filed ch7, then wreck car next day

Filed chapter 7, exempted a car that I owe $1000 on and declared a value of $4000 being bluebook minus needed repairs... Totaled it the next day, insurance is paying out $7500.
Any advice? Does the court get the money? Can I keep the cash or do I have to buy another car?

I'd suggest that you discuss the issue with your bk lawyer and read your contract carefully. It is a very technical question and at the same time tricky. The lender might claim a breach of contract if the claim details are not disclosed to him.
