Hello in sept. of 2002 my chapter 7 was discharged, this was before the new changes to bankruptcy occured . I was under the impression at the time that the public record would stay on my credit report for 7 yrs and that the change in 2005 bankruptcy laws made them 10 yrs . I was thinking this wouild be off this yr and found out the removal is for 2012. am I wrong ? has the chapter 7 term always been 10 yrs before removal off your credit report?
thanks
thanks
Yup. The new bankruptcy laws didn't dictate credit reporting.
Yup. The new bankruptcy laws didn't dictate credit reporting. That falls under the FCRA. FCRA has always said 10 years for bankruptcy.
