I currently looking into filing ch. 7. I currently have a garnishment coming out of my paycheck. I have been told once I file the garnishment will stop & that I might get some of the garnishment money that i have paid refunded back to me is this true.

You will not get the money back, but depending on the total amount that has been garnished, the Trustee can go after the creditor that garnished your money and get it back and distribute the funds amongst your other creditors, such as student loans, etc.
