Chpt 7 Bankrtupcy from 2002
Date: Wed, 06/03/2009 - 05:38
Back in 2002, I filed for Chpt 7 bankruptcy(it was discharged). Before the laws were changed it should have fallen off this year. I have disputed it endlessly with the CRA's as of "out of Statue" and they keep coming back saying that it will stay on my report till 2012. I've also done the "not mine" actually that was the first thing I tried.
I realize that people filing in 2005 have the 10yr law but those of us that filed BEFORE(WELL BEFORE for that matter) the laws were changed shouldn't be penalized.
Am I just up a creek for 3 more years? Something else I should be doing that i'm not?
Btw, the only two things mentioned in my credit report that are inculded in Bkrtupcy are my captial one card & we energy (an electric company) (both should be falling off soon.. if not this month)

To my knowledge, bankruptcy reporting has always been 10 years.
