Start telling them you are going to file. If you have an attorney's name and phone number already, give it to them. That will stop them from calling, or it should.
Legally, I don't think they "have" to stop calling until they actually receive the notice of the bankruptcy filing from the court, but most creditors will stop calling once you tell them you're filing. You may have one or two rebels who will continue to call you - just don't take their calls. Since you're filing anyway, no point in adding stress with that.

Thank you both - you guys are a big help. I'm off from work the next couple days & will be @ home so I will probably turn the phone off - family knows my hubby's cell # --- then when they start calling again on the 15th, I'll deal with it then. You're right soap - it's coming soon, but sometimes it feels so far away!
Thank you both!

Just wanted to give an update to this... my insides have been churning since this last post -- I am just not very good at dealing with all this mess... I FINALLY spoke to the creditors that have been calling and let them know that I have retained an attorney & am filing Chapter 7 BK --- I cannot even begin to explain how much 'lighter' I feel! I don't want to run & hide every time the phone rings! HA!
Anyway, thanks for the advice and support!
