It wouldn't be wise for us to comment on bankruptcy with limited information on your financial status. What types of debts do you have? Because student loans and past IRS dues can't be put under bankruptcy. But you may get rid of most of your commercial debts through BK. You must consult a bankruptcy lawyer to know your options. Most of them do the first assessment free of cost.

Guest, I would consult with a bankruptcy attorney and possibly a debt counselor. Everybody's situation is different and choosing to file bankruptcy is not an easy decision. I battled with it for a long time before I finally decided to file. I made sure to consult with several people before doing so and they all pretty much advised me to do same thing in my situation. I tried and tried to pay and catch up but for most of my creditors it wasn't enough. I think ignoring the debt will only make things worse because it won't go away. You are right we don't know your situation, but I think the best adivce we can offer is to consult with a BK attorney or a debt counselor as I mentioned. Good luck with everything and remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel. :-)
