Can anybody file bankruptcy without social security number?

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
You can file bankruptcy without social security number. This is a very common misconception. If you have a social security number, then write down the number in the bankruptcy form. If you don't have a social security number, then there is no need to give anyone else's number or a wrong number. This creates a wrong impression.

It is true that social security number is not mandatory for filing bankruptcy. You can indicate your individual tax identification number (ITIN) provided to you by IRS when you file bankruptcy.
