Arle,
Welcome, we are glad you are here! First off, breathe. You are NOT going to jail!!! This is classic for this collection company and you can read the tons of information here--including a story written by a reporter with the local Jacksonville,Fla newspaper, which is where Bass is based. It is illegal for them to threaten arrest for defaulting on a PDL, but you do need to take care of the debt, obviously.
The next time they call, ask if you'll be in the cell next to their founder--and yes, he is in jail now on a weapons charge!
Question for you: did Paul say that you would be arrested or would be in "serious legal trouble?" We are trying to see if this is their new line with debtors...
Good one, KS. Don't worry Arle. You can't be arrested for no
Good one, KS.
Don't worry Arle. You can't be arrested for not paying a bill. That's just a scare tactic a lot of collectors - especially ones from pdl's - use to collect. Most pdl's don't sue because the amounts of the loans are so small. So scare tactics are all they have.

Hon- they threatened me with this over 3 months ago and yet I am still sitting at home waiting for the police to show up...its an empty threat and they are all criminals! Don't be scared! File a complaint with the Florida Attorney General-this company is currently under investigation and there was a news article posted just a few days ago concerning their illegal practices and how their founder is a criminal himself!
If they call you again, tell them you're uploading them into you
If they call you again, tell them you're uploading them into your local sheriff's office's computer system for threatening you and being the liars they are! I get so sick of this company and their scare tactics. Keep those complaints rolling in, folks!

I've been telling people to tell the a$$holes that they are going to turn themselves into their parole officers to get the ordeal over with. I really don't know why these people are not getting into trouble with the law, it will be nice when the day comes and they are escorted out of their offices in handcuffs!
Here's something to tell them when they say that the smokies are
Here's something to tell them when they say that the smokies are comin:
I would say "Good, I'll call our local bounty hunter so they can get a payday!!"
