Okay, how do I record a telephone conversation? My DMC has recommend I do this, with specific companies I'm dealing with, but I've never done this before...

First check your state laws. Some states require that both parties know the conversation is being recorded. In that case you would have to advise the company that the conversation is being recorded, which will effect how they treat you. If you live in a state where only one party has to know the conversation is being recorded, then you do not have to advise them of the recording.

Some answering machines offer this option. The other thing you can do is put a hand held recording device up to the ear piece of the receiver and it should record both parts of the conversation. You might want to try it out on a friend to be sure.

Thanks!!! My DMC recommended it and told me that, in Michigan, I have to disclose that I'm recording the call, which I'm fine with doing. I don't have an answering machine, but I can do the hand-held recorder...I'll try it, with a friend, first, as you've suggested...thank you!!!

Also if you run your phone line through your computer, there are several free call recording programs out there. When you are done with the call, it is conveniently in .wav or other compatable format for easy forwarding by email to your local law enforcement authority or attorney generals office.

I typed "phone call redording software" into google and got lots of possibilities.

Hi you can also record a conversation if you have a cell phone they have options that assist you on how to record but the only thing is what sometimes happens is the recording may only last up to one minute or so long and that takes up space on your cell phone but you can also try what ben said that could be more use. But if you are out and you have a cell phone and they call you and harass if you have one of those newer cell phones try to record the conversation that way!
