Be sure when you last paid on the credit card account. Check the statutes in your state and know if they are past the SOL period. Paying off the account will improve your credit worthiness slightly since the account has been sent to collections. If the SOL period is past, the CA cannot force you to pay the account but the negative remark will appear in your file.

I just want to make sure that I understand. Once an item reached the SOL and falls off of my credit report the agency can not collect the amount from me?

800-473-7994 is the number of the collection department of CCB. Call them and inquire about your account.

The bil wil continue to be legally active if they continue to change in to another collection agency. In every state. Everytime they change it the 7 years restarts.

the SOL does not re-start when another CA takes the debt.that is false.only payments or written promise to pay re-starts the SOL.

can we do something against this company? I'm pretty sure they want to steal our information.

That is incorrect. The 7 years begins when you last paid them. Being bounced around does not affect it.

First, this thread is over 3 years old.

Second, someone already corrected the person on when the SOL starts.

Please don't dredge up old threads unless you have something new and/or of value to add.
