Beings you sent them a cease and desist. They are in violation of the fdcpa laws. Did you send the C&D by certified mail? If you did, you have proof that they received it and you can sue them for the violation.

Yes I sent it my certified mail. The constant calling at my job is causing me trouble. Plus they have never snet me anything in writing to verify the debt.

They are in strict violation and you need to file complaints with the Consumer Protection and Attorney General in your state and the state they are located in. I think you can file a police report for the harassment after requesting them in writing to stop and this is causing problems on the job. If i am wrong, someone jump in here and correct me.

Keep documenting each and every call, date time etc.. build that case file so that if you decide to take legal action you can

FIle the complaints with the attoney general in your state and in Fl and the COnsumer Protection Division in your state and in FL. United Legal is as crooked as they come and they violate the fdcpa frequently.

also, try contacting the member here known as virginia legal defense.. perhaps he will represent you in an action against them.

Also file a complaint online with the federal trade commission. They called me once at work regarding collection on a payday loan. The payday loan was in debt consolidation and receiving monthly payments. I tried to explain to the lady that I would call her back because I could not talk at work. She wanted a specific time and I said within two hours on my lunch hour. I guess this wasn't good enough because she started screaming at me on the phone. I asked her a couple of questions and she hung up on me. I faxed them a cease and desist order and also filed a complaint with the FTC. I contacted the orginal creditor because I didn't understand why I went to collections because I was making regular monthly payments that they had agreed to with T & C. This is not a good CA, file file file those complaints. :?

This company refuses to send me anything in writing. So I told them that until they send me a letter so that I can validate the debt, they are not getting my bank information. I don't have stupid written on my forehead.
