This is amazing...about a year ago, we knew we were going to be having some financial problems, and so we called all our credit card companies to try to get interest rates lowered. The only ones that would work with us was Discover Card. Because we were not yet in default, no one wanted to help. Then once we were in default, we no longer qualified for help. Discover lowered our interest rate from 25% to 8%, and waived any over the limit fees, etc, plus discounted like $600 of our balance out of courtesy. We have managed to keep up payments with Discover, but suddenly fell behind by two months again. It is a huge balance, over $9000. (My husband was very irresponsible). Got a letter in the mail today...they have offered us to pay on 20% of the balance and they will report it as paid....less than 2K on an almost 10K balance!!! Isn't that insane? We are going to do our best to try to find the money somewhere. It is just amazing that they are willing to do that and we never even asked...after all they are getting their payments, why should they care if we are paying on it the rest of our lives?!

These types of offers come once a lifetime! Try your best not to miss this opportunity. I am hoping positive that this is not one of their computer errors mixing up with someone else. BTW, you have their mail to prove their offer. It's better to have such an offer in writing. I will try every possible way to arrange some money and pay off this account. What do you think?

Discover was really helpful with me numerous times. They also lowered my interest rate when I signed up with a debt management program. They gave me several opportunites to settle at a lower amount than what I owed, but I never had the funds so I just kept making payments through the program. My balance was around 2600 and they were going to settle with me for 800. If I would have had the money I would have done it.
