Has anyone had any experiences with Universal Fidelity? I could use some advice on how to handle this situation. I owe Sonic Payday Loans $1858 for a loan in June 2005. This has been turned over to Universal Fidelity. I have had a couple of messages on the phone. ( A Florida number I believe - one at 7 am) This week I received a letter with a Houston address demanding the full amount and telling me how to go about paying it. I do not have a fraction of the full amount and do not know what to do. I am terrified of talking to them. Any advice?

Before you do anything, check out for the following. It is your right to know the company doing legal collections.

Did Universal Fidelity go by the federal and state laws and validate the debt they received from the loan company?

Is the collection agency licensed in your state?

After you have something in writing, check for any disputed entries. Most of these companies try to make money by putting excessive charges and high collection fees. All charges must be within your state caps. Find the other posts on this company.
