In August of 2004 I received a letter from Merchant's Credit Guide stating their client, Asset Acceptance, stated I owed $4,556.82 and that the original creditor was Citibank. I sent a debt validation letter in response and heard nothing. In February of 2005 I received a letter from Commonwealth Receivables stating I owed $4,187.17 and the creditor was Marine Midland. Again I sent a debt validation letter and heard nothing. In December of 2005 I recceived a letter from Benntt & Deloney stating they represented Asset Acceptance and I owed a debt to Citibank. Another debt validation letter. In February of 2006 another letter from Bennett & Deloney stating they would settle my debt for a discounted amount. Another debt validation letter. Then in June of 2006 I received a letter from Bennett & Deloney supplying me with "documentation" of my debt. The documentation was a photocopy of a sworn statement by an officer of Fourscore Resource Capital. It references THE CREDIT STORE and an Exhibit attached to the affidavit (no exhibit attached) and that the "account" was sold to Asset Acceptance. It is dated Augusut of 2005. I did nothing.

Now I have received a letter from First National Colleciton Bureau stating thie client is Asset Acceptance and I owe a debt (amount again different) and the original creditor is Citibank. There is no Judgement. There is nothing negative on my credit report, In fact my credit rating is excellent. I haven't had deliquent payments on any accounts for about 15 years now.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Lemonfresh

Not that I know about. It just started coming out of the blue. So I've sent now 4 or so letters requesting validation and nothing. I'd be happy to pay if they can prove it's me. The letters are addressed in my maiden name, sometimes spelled incorrectly. I've been married 18 years so whatever data they have is very old. It is also troubling to me that the amounts vary in the letters and the "interest" varies. The file numbers/account numbers vary as well. It's like the "account" has been made up.

In reading your messages on this forum I'd advise that you make sure your identity hasn't been stolen. If you didn't make any debts with a PDL or any of these companies that are contacting you then it's possible that someone has taken your info without your knowledge & created these debts. I had it happen to me in the mid 1990s & discovered a relative in another state took my identity and created charges. So, just be careful & check the top three credit reporting agencies. If weird companies & debts show give them a call. It usually doesn't take much to discover if your ID has been used without your knowledge.
