Asset Acceptance

Back in February asset acceptance reported a ballys collection on my record. I just pulled a new one and it's not there. I then did a search on the company to see if they were licensed here in california and it says their license was forfeited.
if a collection company is not licensed to do business in a state can they still collect?
i am just worried about this because i contacted ballys about the account and they said they were going to send me copies of the contract and that i should contact asset acceptance. i did and the lady was very loud and obnoxious during the phone call demanding that i give her my social security # so she could find the right person. when i told her i needed validation of the debt she said huffed and puffed "WHAT? It's no problem. I'll send it today." LOL
I'm just worried that they might put it back on my report or reage it. I've been reading a lot of bad things about them. :D

Jolie, chances are that Bally's Fitness still has your file. Can you talk and try to make payment arrangements with them directly? Explain that you are not comfortable working with a CA. Study their reactions after that.
