Do you have any proof of this bill been paid? If you have, you can place it on dispute with Palisades.
validate a debt
I would not pay a cent based on a phone conversation with them. As a general rule, I would avoid agreeing to any payments based on a phone call. If they want you to regogize the dept as valid, make them prove it to you. There are way too many scammers out there to believe anything based on a phone call. Step one: would be to mail them a debt validation letter. I came across a great template on this site that someone posted, but now I can't find it. You can google: debt validation letter template to find one. Send it USPS with return receipt requested so you know they got it. 2nd step: Anyone who calls about a debt, ask them to mail you proof & not to call again. I usually don't answer and then google the phone number. If its a collector, I find their address and mail them a validation letter w/o ever speaking to them. They want you on the phone where they can threaten, harrass, lie, etc... They don't like the mail where you have records of everything they send. Palisades is calling me about a fraudulant debt. They are straight up criminals.. I would not send them a dime unless they could prove the debt valid. They have nearly 200 complaints on the Better Business Bureau web site. Good Luck!!
