Hello is anyone still on here. Oh well To the expects please. I have the same situation as RM. I just pulled my credit report and found a debt to midland credit management (whom I don't know). In my CBR I can see the account number listed as starting with Assciates. My account with Associates did go into write-off sometime in 2002. Midland has never contacted me and the balance on my account was about $1200 when it went into write-off but the balance as of Nov 2006 CBR is approximately $2000. They have contracted it out to one of their outside agencies called ARS National(they won't give me their address). I wanna dispute the balance and am thinkin I may need the validation too before I can resolve this issue. Can I also write this letter to them too. On my CBReport they have no info abt last pmt date, schedule payments, no Charge off date, no date when account was opened. All they have is the high credit=$1591 and the bal/past due amount = $1973.
Is it also legal for them to continue to grow the balance even though the account is charged off?
Please advice me on what to do
Thanks BNF from North Carolina

The account might have added with the interest rates and collection fees all these years. Do you have the copy of the contract signed with the original company? The charges will be available there.

Your AG can provide you the info on the legal collection fees in your state. Dispute the charges with the collection agency as well as the credit bureau reporting this account. The information is not complete and you need to get it fixed. The bureau will run an investigation with the company. You can send a copy of this letter to the CA also asking for the same info.
