I have an account at midland credit management. They refuse to give me a balance due. I send them a fixed amount every month but I have no idea how much I still owe. What can be done about their refusal to give me a balance due?

Did they say why they won't tell you a balance? Ask them for a good reason why you should keep paying them if they can't tell you how much you owe. Get the person's name who tell's you they won't give a balance.

Then write a letter; say you called on such and such day, and talked to this person, and they refused to give a balance on the account. I therefore request an accounting of the debt, showing just credit for all payments made.

Send your letter certified. If they don't send you a balance, file a complaint with the state. You certainly have a right to make sure they are posting your payments and not pocketing it.
