Should I send the money to them ??

I received a phone call today from a Mr. Sargent, from the law offices of Paul Kupferstein regarding a payday loan, that I know is outstanding. I was going to send them payment, after reading some of these forums, I am not sure if it is a good idea ?
I live in Canada, and I do know that I owe the money - I don't necessarily agree with the amount, but when I tried calling the company directly, they referred back to Mr. Sargent.
Please advise .. thank you

I will be curious before sending money. Make sure that you know
I will be curious before sending money. Make sure that you know what you are paying for.
Before sending the money, be aware of the legitimate purpose behind the collection. You are not sure if you owe anything and you find the charges disputed. In this situation, you need to send a dispute letter for complete info before paying. Ask them to give the name of the creditor they are collecting for and the breakdown of the total debt. You should also be informed of the SOL in your state.
The company will prove their collection is legit by providing all the requested info.
