Alliance One

I got to thinking this sounded vaguely familiar. Went through my old paperwork and found letters from them from 2003 collecting on these. I sent validation letter then and the only thing they sent was a "demand bill" on one of the bills with my name, address, name of hospital and charges, but no signature and stamped on the bottom, "this communication is from a debt collector, etc.". I do notice their 800 number has changed. I then sent another validation and C&D letter and heard nothing for 3 years until now. I had asked them in the last letter to provide validation within 30 days or withdrawn the claim in writing, but, as I said, heard nothing.
My questions: I guess they're getting around the C&D by leaving automated messages? Is the original C&D and validation letters still in effect or do I have to send yet another one. I still don't think these bills are mine. I've never heard of the doctor's office they say I owe and they are for heart procedures and I don't have heart problems. Do I have any legal recourse against Alliance One? What is the SOL for medical bills in Ohio? Who do I complain to if this goes on my credit report? This is ridiculous. They obviously could't validate it the first time and now I have to go through all this again. :x I guess they think I'm stupid or something.
Thanks!
Thanks!
You are sure about the bill they are saying to pay is not yours,
You are sure about the bill they are saying to pay is not yours, right?
Call the supervisor of the company and explain that they are contacting you for wrong reasons. You don't owe the debt and even after sending the cease and desist letter, their staff is pursuing you to pay the bill you never owed. Hear what he says. If this doesn't solve the problem, call your state attorney general office and report the collection agency. Send one copy to the FTC also.
The cease and desist letter never loses its effect until the debt issue is resolved. If you never owed this account, you should never have been contacted after sending the C&D letter. Do you have the copy sent earlier? This will be required to prove your part in case legal actions are to be taken against the company.
