How can Palisades Collections with AT&T continue to rob consumers and get away with it. I was informed for the first time on 9-29-2006 that I owe them almost 1400.00 from 2003 and that I was being suied I have moved twice since 2003 to 2 different cities and was told they were sending info to my original address which I have not lived there since early 2004.I spoke with their attorney's office that same day and agreed to an out of court settlement of 3 pmt of 457.00.I made my first payment on 11-06-2006 and requested at that time a copy of the so called detailed bill and copy of my original contract before they would get second pmt.I got another letter around same date stating again that I was being suied.Icalled the attorney again and was told that I would continue to get these letters until the debt was paid and not to worry.I received a letter after I got back from holiday 12-04-2006 stating that I was suied in court on 11-30-2006 and since I was a no show the Judge awarded Palisades full pmt of almost $1800.00.What makes them think they can just run over consumers and get what they want..I was attempting to settle my debt which from what I can remember from 2003 was around $600.00.They just picked the wrong girl to mess with..After searching the net today I see alot of complaints about this company and AT&T.I am talking to my attorney tomorrow.I already complained to the FTC.

Palisades is trying to intimidate you and make more money. If they have won the case against you, the papers should be filed with the county clerk where you are presently residing. They have to bring the case in your state first. You should also have received summons by the court 20 days before the court hearing. I don't think there is anything to worry about the legal case. Check with your county clerk if there is anything in your name.

You also need to know whether Palisades posted the first payment on your file. I don't believe there will be a legal case within one month after receiving the first payment.
