How should I proceed with Allied Interstate?

I ran my credit report and I noticed an old credit card from 1998 with a balance of 1400+ dollars.
I moved a few times and had alot of changes going on in my life at the time. So, I may of forgot about it.
I have not spoke to anyone with Allied Interstate.
How should I proceed?

Allied Interstate is a collection agency. They should not have hit your file with this account because it is past the seven years reporting timeframe. However, if you pay them now, the account will become current and they will get legal back up until your debt is paid.
At this point, you can legally refuse to pay on this account. It is past the SOL and 7 years reporting timeframe. Ask them to validate the debt and send a dispute letter notifying the expiry of SOL
