Hello. I just receiveda letter from asset acceptance llc for a balance past due from Providian for $1346.50. However, I have a Transunion copy of credit report from 1/22/05 stating that the Providian account had been paid off in 10/2001. A copy of my credit report (again, just transunion, though I have copies of all three) on 03/01/2006 shows NOTHING on Providian. Now, AA LLC is trying to say that I still owe Providian? As we all know, they are lying. My question is, I live in Montana. We don't have agencies that are very helpful on these type of things. What would be the best way for me to handle this decisively? Thanks a lot, and hang in there, everyone!

My suggestion would be to send in your proof that the account had been paid. A copy of your credit report stating that somehting is paid is not proof of payment.

Call Providian and ask for somehting stating a zero balance so that you can send a copy of it to asset acceptance.
