myFico score...unknown collection agency

Are you able to find out the name of the collection agency in your credit report? If so, post here. Someone will get their contact info.

You'll also find the name of the original creditor in the credit copy. Call them and verify if they have your file in their system. You can pay them directly if the account is not sold to any outside collection agency.

At the bottom of your credit report there should have been a list of creditors. I would there first.

I know this is an old post but I was wondering if you got this figured out. I am in the same boat. I looked at the bottom and there is no list of creditors.

I would assume they could all be disputed due to no knowledge of creditor. That is what I would do!

Call the CRA's that are reporting and ask them for the contact information. It should be listed but if not, they should be able to pull contact information for any subscribing data furnisher.

I would do the same thing Smo. If I pulled my credit report and had 3 unknown items on it and the contact info was no good I would just dispute it with each CRA and let them try to verify it. IF you know it is your debt though and you are not past the SOL then this might cause you extra trouble.
